Welcome back. Come along as we tour this journal-exclusive space, the guest house kitchen!
Here is the before. There was really no planning period with this space, even to swatch paint, so decisions were truly made on the fly here. We decided on a partial renovation, keeping the existing cabinetry and adding more cabinets to the uppers to take them to the ceiling, and attached new doors to all. We flattened the peninsula to create a counter-height bar, updated all the appliances and hardware, and painted everything to match the main kitchen.
The original pine floors had a lacquered factory finish on them which we sanded off and then applied stain to darken them in a similar manner to the main house’s floors.
A few Pottery Barn linen shades add softness and mimic those in the main house breakfast nook.
